Abstract
For the purpose of offering a thorough evaluation of the state of research at the moment and a world overview of artificial intelligence technologies in the field of design studies. Research literature on AI technology in the field of design was chosen as the data source after a search for SSCI literature in the WOS collection was undertaken. To organize the research pipeline, a bibliometric approach was taken, and a visual analysis was carried out using a combination of VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Higher education institutions are the primary research institutions, and the distribution of research in terms of disciplines demonstrates a multidisciplinary intermingling character. Research demonstrates that the number of publications on artificial intelligence technology in the field of design research has shown a rapid increase in recent years. The current research status has formed three major clusters of information processing technology, data identification and analysis, and intelligent-aided design. Research hotspots primarily focus on genetic algorithms, virtual reality, artificial intelligence in games, human-computer collaboration, system design, and computer-aided design, among other things. Future applications of AI technology in design will mostly center on technology-assisted design, multidisciplinary cultural design, deep learning, and human-machine collaboration.
