Abstract

Summary 1. Organization and activity of child guidance clinics and pediatric-psychiatric services have been reviewed. 2. The accent in child psychiatry has shifted, as it has in medicine generally, from treatment to prevention. 3. An important phase in the recent development of child psychiatry is the organization of child psychiatric services within pediatric departments. Here behavior problems are handled, together with all the other problems of children. 4. The pediatrician should be the main factor in the field of prevention and treatment of behavior problems in childhood.
