Abstract

In the last two years approaches to Simultaneous Engineering (S.E.) have been discussed with increasing enthusiasm. Result of these discussions is a theoretical skeleton and different partial solutions originating in research institutes and industry. But the high expectations concerning the strategic goals time, quality and costs can only be fulfilled by S.E. when detained concepts are developed and made available for a greater number of users. In this paper solutions for the parallel and function-integrated cooperation among the planning departments of the enterprises are presented. By evaluating today’s organizational structures the way to S.E.-orientated organizations is shown. Starting from these structures an approach for the modelling of toolsupported, S.E.-orientated process chains in the development and planning of new products and production systems is shown. The topic is deepen with the help of an example in variant-orientated product- and assembly system-planning.
