Abstract
In this paper, we have introduced trellis shaping (TS) into orthogonal frequency division multiplexing/ offset quadrature amplitude modulation (OFDM/OQAM) system to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). We start by analyzing one channel estimation method, because an improper estimation method will have severe influence on multilevel signal constellations. Then we propose a new branch metric, which is appropriate in OFDM/OQAM signals. Finally, we conduct the PAPR performance compares for different schemes and analyze bit error rate (BER), finding in terms of PAPR reduction capability, TS is superior to other schemes at the expense of BER.
