Abstract

This study aimed to review the literature on the characteristics of pathology (HF) and how inspiratory muscle training protects the individual with heart failure. The literature indicates that IMT has shown beneficial effects in people with HF, such as improved VO2max and good performance in functional tests. However, there is no consensus on what is the best load to train, the best training time and the frequency of it; and the real benefits on the functional capacity of individuals with HF. Studies have shown that inspiratory muscle training improves the functional capacity and quality of life of individuals with HF belonging to more advanced functional classes and with scarce non-drug therapy, thus improving the functional capacity and quality of life of individuals with insufficiency. heart disease, favoring well-being conditions.
