Abstract

Tree and stand volume equations are developed for Eucalyptus saligna plantations in Western Kenya. Total tree volume, merchantable volume to a variable top diameter limit, and taper functions are developed using the logarithmic model. Separate equations are necessary for coppiced and non-coppiced plantations. A single equation is developed which predicts total yield per hectare and merchantable yield per hectare to any top diameter limit. A set of anamorphic site index equations and a stand basal area growth curve are developed. The system of equations indicates that mean annual increment culminates at approximately age five to six across the range of site indices present in these plantations.
