Abstract

Different types of pollutants produced as by‐products in various marine product processing plants are described. A detailed discussion on the effects of these polluting materials on the environment follows. Various technologies available for treating waste water contaminated with the above are introduced. Methods are described for evaluating various processing methods and choosing a method that meets individual processing requirements based on factors such as the degree to which waste water is to be treated, availability of resources for treatment, economics and other factors. Waste water treatment is an integral part of the production process and must be seen in this light.
