Abstract

A bunionette may be due to a deformity of the fifth metatarsal head, metatarsal diaphysis, or divergence of the fourth and fifth metatarsals. Treatment options are dictated by the symptoms, physical findings, and location of the abnormality. Conservative measures are successful in the majority of patients, however, surgical intervention may be necessary to relieve symptoms. This article describes the different surgical treatment options and the rationale applied to obtain the best outcome.
