Abstract

Ten cases of suppurative arthritis of the hip in infancy were reviewed. The results were as follows;1) Five cases were neonate; in these neonatal cases 4 were males and one was a female.2) The cultures were positive in 5 cases. The organism was the Staphylococcus aureus in 3 cases of them.3) Early surgical drainage following vigorous antibiotics treatment seemed to be effective.4) For the treatment of residual subluxation, combined procedure of open reduction and detorsion varus osteotomy was effective.
