Abstract

ALTHOUGH a considerable amount of research is being done on the causes of idiopathic scoliosis, very little has been discovered concerning the underlying pathologic process. Despite this failure, many advances have been made in the treatment of this condition during the past decade.1 With the development of the Milwaukee brace,2 Harrington instruments3 and the more effective cast technics described by Bisser,4 an aggressive approach to the treatment of scoliosis has replaced the time-honored "watchful-waiting" method.
