Abstract
In the treatment of reticuloendotheliosis good responses were obtained by administering steroids in doses as high as 250 mg. per day for infants and 350 mg. for older children. Harmful side-effects necessitate interruption of such treatment after a certain time, but reticuloendotheliosis recurs as early as two weeks after such interruption. Recurrence can be prevented by giving antifolic acid compounds during such interruptions. Four of the five patients here studied responded well to this treatment, and the pathological signs and symptoms disappeared. Abnormalities of lungs and bones were the last to disappear. Nothing definite can yet be said about the possibility of relapse after months or years.
