Abstract

Hypertonic sodium lactate alone reverses many of the cardiotoxic effects of procaine amide in lightly anesthetized dogs. When molar sodium lactate is combined with l-norepinephrine, previously irreversible manifestations of procaine amide intoxication are promptly restored to normal or near normal. The electrocardiographic, electrolyte, and blood pressure changes resulting from procaine amide intoxication have been discussed.
