Abstract

Chemical treatment of nisin fermentation wastewater (NFW) by Fenton oxidation (FO) process was studied. The influences of H 2 O 2 /COD ratio (w/w), Fe 2+ /H 2 O 2 molar ratio, pH, temperature and reaction time were experimentally studied in a batch reactor. The optimal operating conditions for Fenton process were found to be at H 2 O 2 CVCOD ratio (w/w) of 2.0, Fe 2+ /H 2 O 2 molar ratio of 0.15, pH of 3.5, temperature of 30degC and reaction time of 90 minutes. The system was reevaluated under the optimal conditions, the results showed that the COD removal is 72.6%, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) removal is 47.9%, and color removal is 97.8%.
