Abstract
In many experimental situations, domains with antiparallel polarization are formed in ferroelectric samples in which a spatially nonhomogeneous free charge ρ(r) has developed whose relaxation time is considerably longer than that of domain patterns. Together with the applied field Ea it influences the domain structure corresponding to minimum energy. Here we analyze which domain patterns is stable, considering the values of Ea and PS and the location and magnitude of ρ(r) as independent variables. Calculations have been performed for planar distributions of charge, in the approximation of narrow needle-like domains. It is possible to construct synoptical phase diagrams which demonstrate the location of different domain patterns corresponding to local equilibrium, in the space of independent variables.
