AbstractMyelodysplastic syndromes are a heterogenous group of neoplastic stem cell disorders characterized clinically by bone marrow failure, resultant cytopenias, and their related complications. The first step is establishing accurate diagnosis requiring comprehensive review of clinical, pathological, and molecular data. Abnormal morphology “dysplasia” demonstration requires an experienced hematopathologist. In the past several years, we learned more about spectrum of clonal hematopoiesis disorders ranging from clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP), clonal cytopenia of unknown significance (CCUS) to clear MDS.
