This excellent, comprehensive volume is the long-awaited answer to the needs of physicians interested in sports injuries. Dr. O'Donoghue, an outstanding orthopedic surgeon, is thoroughly familiar with affections of the musculoskeletal system. He uniquely applies his knowledge to this special field and presents it in a well-organized, concise manner. The manuscript is in 3 major parts which are divided into 21 chapters. The introductory chapter presents a description of the whys and wherefores of competitive athletics, and may be profitably studied by the layman as it discusses the role of the physician in his relationship to athletes and injuries.
