Abstract

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic methods and efficacy of infantile congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction(CNLDO). Methods Sixty-five infants (76 eyes) aged 0.5 to 36 months (Mo) who had CNLDO, the lacrimal sac massage added Tobramycin drops, nasolacrimal duct irrigation and probing were used. And according to the initial months was divided into three groups: 0.5-6 Mo (group 1), 7-12 Mo (group 2) and 13-36 Mo (group 3), followed up for 3 weeks after treatment determined the efficacy, respectively. Results The success rate of lacrimal sac massage, nasolacrimal duct irrigation and probing was 13.16%, 74.24% and 52.94%, respectively. Each group curative ratio was 92.26% in group 1, 87.50% in group 2 and 77.78% in group 3, respectively. The failure rate was 10.53%, the overall success rate was 89.5%. Conclusions Infants CNLDO should first performed lacrimal sac massage treatment, nasolacrimal duct irrigation curative effect is best in the early, the probing is a good supplement.
