Abstract

Human cementum surfaces were treated in vitro with acidulated phosphate-fluoride (APF) solutions. Fluoride concentrations as high as 200,000 ppm were found one minute after treatment with a pH 3.2 APF solution. Less uptake occurred from a pH 5.5 APF solution. Much of the acquired fluoride was lost after soaking the treated cementum for 24 hours in a metastable calcium phosphate solution.
