presenting for your consideration four cases of acute traumatic tetanus that have come under my observation and treatment, I feel that they are cases of no little interest, in view of the fact that three of the four cases recovered. searching the literature of tetanus, we are confronted with the overwhelming and prevalent idea that acute traumatic tetanus is incurable. Dr. Gross, in summing up his ideas as to the prognosis of traumatic tetanus, says: In an experience of forty years, I have seen but three cases where the patient escaped with his life, and then only after a protracted and painful struggle.
