Abstract
disease affecting horses and the aim of any treatment is to restore joint integrity to allow return to as near normal function as possible. The first line of treatment includes systemic and local pharmacological treatment and these treatment options were discussed in the previous and associated article (Boys Smith and Clegg UK Vet Vol 12 No 4 9-15). However, in severe or non-responsive cases, other treatment options (both surgical and physical) do exist that can be used instead of, or in addition to, those already described.
