Abstract

Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the wedge infill which was for repair of enophthalmos causing by orbital blowout fractures.Methods Sixteen cases (16 eyes) with enophthalmos causing by orbital blowout fractures in Tangshan ophthalmologic hospital from January 2012 to March 2013 were selected,and orbital blowout fractures were repaired by Wedge filler.The condition of proptosis,diplopia and vision were compared between preoperative and postoperative.Results There were different degrees of improvement in the appearance in all patients.The vision did not affect by operation,and diplopia and change of the eye position were absent either.Moreover,there was no implant infection,discharge or displacement and other complications in all cases during postoperative follow-up period.Conclusions Wedge filler is secure and effective in treatment of enophthalmos causing by orbital blowout fracture.It is an ideal material for the correction of enophthalmos,which is result from repairing the orbital wall and increasing the orbital volume.
