Abstract
A case study of the effects of family systems cybernetic sociofeedback therapy in treating a client inolved in being called abusive names is presented along with a theoretical discussion of functional and dysfunctional reactions to being called abusive names. In addition, the authors identify different types of dynamics which appear to predispose individuals to react to abusive name calling with dysfunctional, rather than functional behavior. Relevant considerations for treating such clients are also discussed.
