Abstract

As the immediate past secretary general of federation of european societies for surgery of the hand (FESSH) and the past secretary general and president elect of international federation of societies for surgery of the hand (IFSSH) during the last 10–15 years I have had the chance to visit different countries of the world and to participate in teaching events, courses, and congresses dedicated to hand surgery. During those years and activities, one of the most interesting topics was Dupuytren disease. I was involved as an active participant in the “revolution” of this hand condition and I have seen and experienced fantastic moments in aspects both positive and negative. As the first chapter of this hopefully very valuable book, I would like to summarize in a nonrandomized, non-prospective, nonscientific, but very subjective way my opinion on this very interesting topic of hand surgery.
