Abstract

Background: Lymphangiomas are considered lymphatic vascular malformations that are characterized by dilatation of lymphatic vessels or formation of cysts. Its manifestation causes increase and dysfunction of the affected soft tissues, occurring development of bone deformities during the growth. The treatment of skeletal deformities can be performed through a joint treatment between orthodontics and orthognathic surgery. However, treatment of soft tissues contributes to the long-term stability of the treatment and is usually performed by means of sclerosing agents or partial glossectomy.
