Abstract

This chapter describes the treatment of specified surface temperature and specified surface flux for heat conduction problems using a Corrective Smoothed Particle Method (CSPM). A Corrective Smoothed Particle Method for boundary value problems in heat conduction is significant in addressing material response to thermal effects. The mesh free approach lends itself to the treatment of initiation and growth of cracks and voids and the treatment discrete mass flow. In the treatment, the body of a structure is defined by material particles and the surface of a structure is defined by ghost particles. The ghost particles are in one-to-one correspondence with the surface particles and positioned such that the vector between the ghost and surface particles is normal to the surface. The position of ghost particles can change to represent a receding surface. The only other property of the ghost particles is temperature, which is determined by the boundary conditions.
