Abstract
Acute childhood diarrhea and dehydration is a worldwide problem. Significant childhood morbidity and mortality resulting from associated dehydration exists in the United States as well. This paper is a review of the literature on the treatment and prevention of dehydration secondary to acute diarrhea episodes in children. Oral rehydration therapy (ORT), combined with homeopathic remedies, has shown to be the most effective treatment to date in the literature.
