Abstract

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disease characterized by eosinophil infiltration of the esophageal mucosa, resulting in tissue fibrosis and esophageal dysfunction. The natural history of EoE involves progression from an inflammatory to a fibrostenotic disease, highlighting the need for early diagnosis and effective treatment to prevent long-term complications including poor growth, nutritional deficiencies, food impaction, stricture formation, and spontaneous esophageal perforation. 1 Muir A Falk GW.
