Abstract

Objective To investigate the perioperative treatment of diabetic patients with colorectal carcinoma. Methods Form March 1995 to June 2010,145 patients with diabetes mellitus who underwent operations in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively,and conventional group had 63 examples, short-acting regular insulin was used in perioperative management;Intensive group had 82 examples,intensive insulin therapy was used in perioperative management. Postoperative complications were recorded. Results One hundred and forty-five cases all underwent elective operations,there was no operative death. The postoperative complications in intensive group was more than that in the conventional group, there was significant difference( P﹤0. 05 ). Conclusions It is very important to control blood glucose and urine glucose to normal level for elderly patients with colorectal and diabetes mellitus in perioperative period. Intensive insulin therapy used in mellitus perioperative management for cotorectal cancer with diabetes,can obviously reduce postoperative complications and improve the quality of life of the patients.
