Abstract

Objective To discuss treatment differences and clinical characteristics between Yi and Han nationality in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Methods From January 2009 to December 2011, a total of 80 cases with PCOS were included into this study. They were divided into Yi group (n=40) and Han group (n=40) according to their nationalities. The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Investigation in Human Being of First People's Hospital of Liangshan Prefecture. Informed consent was obtained from each participate. There had no significant differences between two groups among age, infertility years, and so on (P>0.05). All the subjects received dimethyl biguanide+ metformin hydrochloride for 3 months, and the glycometabolism indexes, body mass index (BMI), and egg chamber changes were observed before and after the treatment. Results The level of LH, T and LH/FSH ratio decreased significantly than those before treatment (P<0.05). After treatment, the glucose and insulin area under the curve (AUC) were significantly decreased (P<0.05). Conclusions Dimethyl biguanide combined with metformin can reduce metabolic disorders of PCOS. But obvious differences between Yi and Han were found.
