Abstract

Introduction: While measurement of natriuretic peptides (NP) aid the diagnosis of acutely decompensated heart failure (ADHF) in the emergency department (ED), the relationship between time to measurement of NP levels and time to treatment on clinical outcomes is unclear. Hypothesis: To determine the relationship between the time to measurement of immunoreactive B-type natriuretic peptide (iBNP) and intervention for ADHF (defined as time from ED admission to first use of intravenous (IV) diuretic), and if these variables are associated with morbidity/mortality.
