Abstract

ABSTRACTThis work is an extension of our previous work, (Ahmed et al. 2018). In this work, we investigate the effect of additives on restoration of properties of used mineral-based hydraulic oils. The additives were added to improve water separation, pour point, oxidation stability, thermal stability and anti-foaming properties. The effect of additives concentration was assessed, exhibiting optimum concentrations that yield maximum recovery of oil properties. The results show that the treated oil samples passed the tests of water separability and foaming tendency (seq. I and III). However, the other properties; such as oxidation stability, thermal stability, and foaming tendency (seq. Π) were improved but still fail to reach the allowable limits.
