Abstract

The aim of this article was to give an overview of the dental effects of theHerbst appliance and to discuss their clinical consequences. The arch perimeter, arch widths, and interarch changes as well as mandibular incisor crowding and gingival recession during Herbst treatment are reviewed. The average changes in the short- and long-term perspective are shown, and the large individual variation is stressed.
