Abstract

Cardiovascular disease, the top killer endangering human health, has spread worldwide and is a major disaster in many countries. Populus ilicifolia has attracted the interest of researchers owing to the various biological activities of its different secondary metabolites. Therefore, in this research, the important role of a new compound extracted from P. ilicifolia in coronary heart disease (CHD) treatment and nursing was explored, and its associated mechanism was analyzed. An animal model of CHD was constructed. After treatment with the compound, the levels of inflammatory cytokines that were released into plasma were tested through ELISA. Real-time RT-PCR was carried out to test the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway. The genetic relationship between P. ilicifolia and other tree species was also explored on the basis of the chloroplast genome.
