Abstract

There is a shortage of qualified personnel with expertise to manage swallowing disorders in children. The problem is particularly acute in rural areas such as West Virginia. A preservice program aimed at increasing qualified personnel is described. Student experiences are implemented in the context of interdisciplinary patient management. Students must complete certain academic requirements, work in the clinic under the supervision of a faculty mentor, and complete a technology project.
