Abstract

Vitiligo, which manifests as varying sizes and shapes of well-circumscribed amelanotic macules or patches amid normally pigmented skin, has a quite common onset during childhood. The most common treatments of childhood vitiligo are topical corticosteroids, topical calcineurin inhibitors and targeted phototherapy. Adequate sun protection and cosmetic camouflage may also be of benefit. It is also important to identify individuals in need of psychological support, as childhood vitiligo can negatively impact psychosocial factors and health-related quality of life.
