Abstract

Each year, 4,000 ex-Geneva residents leave the canton to settle in France or in the district of Nyon. In the same time, the municipality of Saint-Cergue is characterized by the population movements among the highest in Switzerland. Who are the inhabitants who settle in Saint-Cergue ? What are they looking for ? What is their past life course ? This article aims at tackling these questions, by using an in-depth research on the residential trajectories of inhabitants of several municipalities of French-speaking Switzerland.
