Traveling with children.

Abstract

Traveling with children can be a rewarding experience. Traveling with children for the first time, however, can be an exponential learning experience for the parents. Some simple advice given to parents and guardians about keeping children entertained during a flight and when traveling abroad can help to make the journey less stressful and more relaxing for everyone, including other travelers. Additional assistance given to those traveling with children, whether it be at border crossings, airports, hotels or other places, can be an unexpected reward. I t may be useful to give parents some written material, such as a brochure, on the subject to summarize the main points about traveling with children and to detail services that may be available for parents traveling with children. Information may be available from the airlines,' travel magazines,2 travel clinics, travel agents, or a professional organization. Airline internet sites can be a useful source of information in this regard, for example United Airl i n e ~ . ~ More extensive publications may be available from bookshops, such as the Lonely Planet Travel Guide: Travel with Children.4 If travelers are going to work abroad, some companies and organizations may assist in the preparation of children for travel. This may include inedical checks, immunization, medical kits, and travel and health insurance.
