Abstract

Discusses how businesses are impacted by traumatic events and pandemics such as the current Coronavirus (COVID-19). As I write this in late March, we are early in the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is like nothing any of us have experienced before, except perhaps the very few who may have lived through the flu pandemic of 1918–1920. The COVID-19 crisis is like a combination of all the worst we’ve seen. There is social trauma as we isolate ourselves, lose some individual liberties, and try to work from home. We don’t know when society will return to normal and, when it does, how it will have changed.
