Trauma to the Liver.

Abstract

This short volume is a richly illustrated discussion of the surgical anatomy, surgical technique, and operative and postoperative management of patients with hepatic injury alone and in combination with other injuries. At each stage the development of the subject is reviewed and many references to the old and recent literature are included. The book has many details on surgical technique, the control of hepatic hemorrhage, choice of line of resection, and postoperative problems. This book overlaps considerably withSchwartz's Surgical Disease of the Liver(New York: McGraw-Hill Book Co., 1964). Although the present volume has more illustrations on the subject of trauma, it has almost no material that is not included in Schwartz. The volume by Schwartz seems the better written, the more inclusive and lasting work.
