Abstract
The database of Holocaust witness narratives housed in the Wexner Learning Center of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is an example of user-ordered representation that allows a postmodern rhetoric of mass trauma. Differing significantly from previous linear narrative strategies used to represent the Holocaust, the hypermedia database allows for multiple interpretations of texts. The critical user or viewer can interact with and restructure the viewing experience, having significant implications for the future of historical narrative as well as representation of mass experience.
