Abstract

It was aimed to evaluate different methods to overcome seed dormancy in Sclerolobium denudatum Vogel used in seedling production for the recovery of degraded areas. Seeds were collected from 32 arrays trees by conventional equipment and for treatments it was used a randomized blocks design with four replications, being: witness, chemical treatment with sulfuric acid (4, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 minutes), mechanical sandpaper scarification grana 100 followed immersion of seeds in water (12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours), immersion of seeds in water (12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours) and immersion in fresh cattle manure (12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours). The highest percentage of germination was obtained in the treatment where seeds were immersed in sulfuric acid 70% for 25 minutes. Immersion in fresh cattle manure, immersion in water and mechanical sandpaper scarification grana 100 followed immersion of seeds in water reduce the seeds germination rate.
