Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the preservative treatment of Eucalyptus benthamii fence posts by sap displacement method through radial transpiration. A total of six fences, with a length of 2.0 meters and diameter ranging from 6 to 9 cm were exposed to soluble chromated copper borate (CCB) immunizing at a concentration of 2% of active ingredient, for 7 days. Penetrations and product distributions in immunizing disks taken from five positions on wood round pieces were analyzed with the aid of a colorimeter. The results showed adequate levels of protection and/or preservation of pieces of eucalyptus, which underwent treatment. The process was efficient and relatively simple, thus it can be easily applied by farmers.
