Abstract

This paper presents a report and result analysis of the university outreach project Science & Movement: university in action carried out from 2019 to 2021. The project aimed to promote educational activities in the area of natural sciences in various educational spaces in Guarapuava-PR and region, with the purpose of implementing innovative methodologies for the teaching of science and biology. The extracurricular activities carried out included workshops, courses, guided visits, exhibitions and scientific exhibitions, and short courses, offered to teachers and students of basic and higher education. The project had the participation of professors, students of the Biological Sciences course, graduate students and graduates who concluded the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Teaching (PPGEN) Master’s programs at UNICENTRO. It provided the participants with an education experience that promoted their direct insertion in segments of the social and educational reality in which the Higher Education Institution (IES) is inserted. The methodology used in this experience report included reports of the activities developed by the participants of the project. As a result, numerous activities are described and shared in this work, involving around 2800 teachers and students of basic education and the community in general, in the region of Guarapuava-PR. Such outreach actions focused on the dissemination and literacy of scientific and technological knowledge coming from the university academic environment. Furthermore, we concluded that investing in university-primary school dialogue and in the verticalization of teaching and scientific literacy promotes significant learning of scientific foundations in Natural Sciences in educational settings.
