Abstract

A review of the medical literature yields few cases of transverse vaginal septa. Transverse vaginal septum is an extremely uncommon anomaly of the female reproductive system. The incomplete variety is seen very infrequently and the complete septum is rare. Brenner, Sedlis and Cooperman (1965) reported one case of complete imperforate vaginal septum in 72,000 new patients. Lodi (1951) found three cases in 90,000 patients. Jones (1957) described incomplete septa in five patients in the course of 67,857 deliveries.
