Abstract

The spatiotemporal dynamics of broad lasers with anisotropy is studied. Anisotropy in broad-area lasers leads to different thresholds for x- and y-polarized modes. In addition, the transverse wave numbers for the x- and y-polarized modes can also differ. The investigated regimes were observed experimentally in semiconductor vertical cavity surface emitting laser with cryogenic cooling. Our theoretical results agree well with the experimental data.
