Abstract

To the Editor.— The review by Beregson et al1 was of particular interest to staff pediatricians at William Beaumont Army Medical Center due to a recent case of transverse myelitis following gluteal injection of benzathine penicillin. The case promoted a review of the literature, and that report is being prepared for publication (W. Stafford, H. Mena, W. S. Piskun, et a, in preparation). We concluded that preparations or mixtures are not safe in the gluteal musclature of children less than 2 to 3 years of age.
