Abstract

Experimental p t and p p spectra of pions in 3,4,5 and 6 prong events in p d reactions at 3.5 GeV/ c have been measured in a bubble chamber experiment. The p t spectra are fitted with Hagedorn and Boltzmann distributions. The average value of p t is found to be in the range of 0.35–0.40 GeV/ c. The p t spectra of annihilation pions are fitted better with the above distributions than the spectra of pions found in production reaction. The c.m.s. p 1 spectra of pions are analyzed in terms of Jacob's nova model and Feynman's scaling distribution. The p 1 spectra, when analyzed after making cuts in p t distributions, reveal that p 1 and p t are not independent of each other in this experiment.
