Abstract

Transulnar basal coronoid fractures of the elbow are complex injuries in which there is a transulnar fracture dislocation of the elbow, and the coronoid is fractured and not attached to either the olecranon fragment or the metaphyseal segment. These fractures are difficult to manage and can lead to poor outcomes if not adequately addressed. This technical note aims to introduce an approach to their operative management. Due to the variety of fracture patterns and degree of comminution, the sequence of intraoperative management as well as fixation methods may vary. The utilization of this technical note will guide surgeons through the optimal management of these injuries to achieve stable fixation that will allow early range of motion.
