Abstract

In this study, individualisms in the journalistic genre of columns were analyzed from the lexical-semantic and formative aspects. Sources of the emergence of individual lexicon, its textual meaning, and its pragmatic components are presented, considering that the majority of individualisms represent vocabulary with connotative expressiveness. The study demon- strates that realized individualisms arise through semantic derivation or in productive and non-productive formative processes in the Serbian language. It is highlighted that these indi- vidualisms predominantly consist of units with high and increased levels of negative expres- siveness, directed towards the negative evaluation of political public and society as a political actor. Besides contributing to tracking lexical trends in contemporary public discourse, this paper also adds to the genre determination of the column on the lexical level.
