Abstract
Abstract This chapter shows that tourist transport brings great challenges in relation to sustainability in terms of both how tourists travel to their destinations and how they travel around once they have arrived in their holiday areas. It is also clear that the private car and air travel are perhaps the two biggest problems in the transport sector. Ways to make tourist transport more sustainable are discussed. Three case studies are presented: one on British Airways, the second on the P&O Steam Navigation Company, and the other on approaches to rural tourist transport.
